Shutters Boost Privacy in Any Setting

Shutters Boost Privacy in Any Setting

Privacy, whether at home or at work, is highly-prized but not often achieved. Privacy begins with a state of mind and grows to include physical surroundings. With 79% of the U.S. population living in urban areas and population density being between 2,300 (Ketchikan, Alaska) and 69,000+ (Manhattan, New York) in incorporated cities, gaining privacy by putting physical space between you and your neighbor is almost impossible. That’s where we come in. Nothing boosts the sense of privacy like shutters. They are opaque, easy to adjust, and unlike drapes, allow air to circulate from outdoors, all without allowing any outsider to see into your living or working space. In addition to providing stylish privacy, shutters add to the value of your home. New owners will not have to replace them because Eclipse Shutters:

  • Carry a 25-year warranty and are known to be the best in the business.
  • Become permanent window treatments. They stay with the house and are one less thing for new owners to have to worry about.
  • Always keep their like-new look. They do not fade, warp, crack or peel, even in higher-humidity environments.
  • Never need to be refinished or repainted. Dusting or wiping with a damp cloth is all the upkeep needed.
  • Help decrease utility bills by keeping heat out in the summer and cold out in the winter
  • Do not need child- or pet-proofing because they are cordless and safe to install around children and pets.
  • Are non-porous, which makes them safe for everyone to be around.

Even if you plan to list your home on the real-estate market in as few as ten days, Eclipse can complete custom orders in time for them to be installed by the first showing. If you have any questions or concerns about Eclipse Shutters, please contact us. We’re here to help you.

Tips To Effectively Measure Your Windows for Interior Shutters

Tips To Effectively Measure Your Windows for Interior Shutters

Proper fit is essential for your shutters. Measuring the window opening is not difficult, but it has to be done correctly to ensure that the shutters fit correctly and look their best. It is also necessary for them to shut out light and outside temperatures. When measuring, you should always use a steel measuring tape.

Measuring for an Inside Mount Installation

Shutters with an inside mount cover only the inside of the opening. To get the width measurement, you will measure between the side window jambs or casings. You should also take a diagonal measurement from the top left to the bottom right. The height is measured from the inside edge of the top casing to the window sill (or floor, if the shutters will extend that far). At Eclipse Shutters, we recommend measuring in three places for both the width and height. Measure the inside width at top, middle and bottom and record the smallest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8”. Measure the height at left, middle, and right and record the smallest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8”. If your window is 3/8 inch or more out of square, you likely need an outside mount.

Measuring for an Outside Mount Installation

With an outside mount, the shutters cover the entire window opening, including the trim. To determine the width for these, you measure the entire space between the outer edges of the side trim. Measure trim to trim width at top, middle and bottom and record the largest measurements and round up to the nearest 1/8”. Measure trim to trim height at left, middle and right and record the largest measurement and round up to the nearest 1/8”.

Best Window Treatments for the Bedroom

Best Window Treatments for the Bedroom

If your bedroom is long overdue for a makeover, don’t just buy a new comforter set, splash a few gallons of paint on the walls or splurge on high-end furniture. Your trusted  shutters dealer urges you to pay attention to the windows too. The windows are where function and form meet, making them a focal point of every room in your house. The amount of natural light flowing into a space can dramatically alter its feel and flow, not to mention increase privacy and make for a more comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. If there is one thing we cannot stress enough, it is to choose your window treatments wisely. With more than enough styles, designs and colors to consider, let this guide help you make the perfect investment for your bedroom upgrade.

The Top Bedroom Window Treatments

Silk drapes are one of the most luxurious add-ons you can give your bedroom. Dress the space in style by selecting from a diverse array of upgrades for your silk drapers: crystals, pleats, tassels, buttons and beads. Silk speaks pure elegance and will always be at the top of the list as far as window treatments are concerned. The material is soft and durable yet transparent enough to let in just the right amount of natural light. Next up are the sheer/opaque drapery combinations. The former remain open during the daytime hours to keep the room well lit, while the latter are used to block light and noise at night. Pleats have made a dramatic comeback, and one of the most popular styles for 2014 is the floor-to-ceiling design. Feel free to choose a gathered or traverse rod, and mix and match bold color schemes for a subtle yet striking theme. For homeowners who wish to give their bedroom windows a touch of dimension and create a softer feel, layered window treatments patterns are hard to pass up. With the right design, you can easily create a focal point. Last but certainly not least, Eclipse Shutters carries a large selection of Atlanta shutters. Our faux wood shutters are custom designed to mesh seamlessly with your bedroom theme.
